WATCH: SteveScalise says SpeakerPelosi can't shield Senate anymore, touts plans for border action

On Sunday, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise warned senators"who blocked any attempt to secure the border" that the new Republican-led House of Representatives will be sending a package of border security bills their way.

"You’re going to see Republicans bring bills through the House to actually secure America’s border. I hope we get Senator Manchin and other Democrat senators who have blocked any attempt to secure the border because we’re going to be sending a package of bills to secure the border to get control of this problem," Scalise told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo.

House Republicans announced on Thursday that they plan to have their first House Committee on Oversight and Accountability hearing on U.S.-Mexico border security next month. Chairman James Comer sent Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas a letter Thursday decrying the failure of the administration's handling of the border crisis and asked for documents and communications spanning back to the beginning of the Biden presidency on their handling of the border.

U.S. border agents reportedly have confirmed on Sunday that 1.2 million illegal migrants"got away" from authorities while crossing the border under President Biden's administration.Biden visited the border for the first time in his presidency in early January but Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott called the visit two years and $20 million too late.

Speaking to a meeting of U.S. mayors Friday, the president claimed that law enforcement has"confiscated 379 million doses of fentanyl," but remarked that the deadly fentanyl crisis has still killed tragically 100,000 people, including children.
