Site B residents, in Khayelitsha, took to the streets on Monday and barricaded roads, over what they said was the City's failure to fix the ongoing sewer overflows and blockages in the area.
Ward councillor Thando Mpengezi who said was taken aback by the protest, admitted that this was the residents’ last resort to get the problem fixed.
Residents vowed to shut down several main roads in the area, until the City presented them with a proper plan. Picture: Ayanda Ndamane/African News Agency Mpengezi said a plan he developed, to address the sewage problem in the area, was ignored by the City.
