Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has warned that while the Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Western Cape displayed trends of a decline, KwaZulu-Natal's numbers were expected to surge as it approached its peak. According to the most recent figures published by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases , the province currently had 106 037 confirmed Covid-19 cases. Last week the province overtook the Western Cape, making it second to Gauteng with 200 237 confirmed cases.
KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala recently identified Pinetown as one of 10"hotspots" in the eThekwini District - others are Inanda, Umlazi, KwaMashu, Phoenix, Chatsworth, Newlands, Tongaat, Westville and Ntusuma.exclusive journalism and features
