Severe weather in the forecast today for Prince George and the north central B.C.
A severe thunderstorm advisory has been issued for Prince George. Environment Canada is warning that weather conditions are favourable for the development of a significant lightning storm that bring strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
The heavier clouds are expected to move in this afternoon and rain could continue throughout the day, with a mix of sun and cloud and a 60 per cent chance of showers. But it will be warm, with a predicted high of 28 C. The humidity will make it feel like 30 C. The severe thunderstorm risk is expected to continue this evening, with overnight clearing, which should help skywatchers get a glimpse of the Perseid meteor shower tonight. After an overnight low of 11 C, sunshine is predicted for Friday morning with a mix of sun and cloud and a 40 per cent chance of thundershowers and a high of 28 .
It will likely be wet on Saturday with a 70 per cent chance of showers and a high of 20 C. A sunny Sunday is in the forecast with a high of 22 C, which is also the predicted high for Monday. The heat will return later in the week with highs of 26 C on Wednesday and 29 C on Thursday and no rain forecast, perfect for the first day of the B.C. Northern Exhibition.
