Queen Elizabeth, Britain's longest-reigning monarch and the nation's figurehead for seven decades, died on Sept. 8 aged 96. Her funeral is taking place on Monday.

June 2, 1953 - Queen Elizabeth is crowned at Westminster Abbey in the first televised coronation service.Feb. 19, 1960 - Second son, Prince Andrew, is born.March, 1970 - During a visit to New Zealand, the queen introduces the"walkabout", a meet-the-people tactic for royal tours. Dec. 20, 1995 - Buckingham Palace confirms the queen has written to Charles and Diana urging them to divorce.Aug. 31, 1997 - Diana and her millionaire companion Dodi al-Fayed are killed when their car crashes while being chased through Paris by photographers on motorcycles. The queen and the royal family are criticised for their reserved response.

June 2-5, 2012 - The diamond jubilee to mark her 60th year on the throne sees four days of celebrations along with a nationwide tour. A million people gather for a pageant on River Thames, and millions more attend street parties.June 23-26, 2014 - The queen embarks on what was her last foreign state visit to Germany.

Jan. 8, 2020 - Harry and Meghan announce they will no longer be working members of the royal family. They move to Los Angeles in March. Nov. 30, 2021 - Barbados becomes a republic, meaning the queen is now the head of state of just 15 realms. Feb. 20, 2022 - The queen tests positive for COVID-19 and is said to be suffering from mild cold-like symptoms. She soon returns to official duties.June 2-5, 2022 - Four days of celebration in Britain mark the queen's Platinum Jubilee. The queen herself has to withdraw from several events due to"episodic mobility issues" but says she has been"humbled" by the support she has received.

- The funeral will be led by the Dean of Westminster David Hoyle, and the sermon will be given by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby. - A specially commissioned choral piece composed by the Master of the King's Music, Judith Weir, will be sung by the choir. The piece,"Like as the Hart", is a setting of Psalm 42 to music.
