The IFP will launch its manifesto for the 2024 National and Provincial Elections at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The IFP is the third political party to launch its election manifesto at the stadium. The EFF and ANC also launched their manifestos in February.KwaZulu-Natal is an IFP stronghold, as the party has done well in the province in previous elections.

The party seeks to continue growing its support as it did in the 2021 Local Government Elections, where it took over municipalities that the ANC previously governed. With the Jacob Zuma-backed MK Party’s emergence, support may decline. Apart from that, KZN is also a battleground for the ANC, which wants to retain its former glory and dominance. On the other hand, the EFF also wants to increase its support in the province.

For the first time since its inception, the IFP will launch a manifesto without its Founding President Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.President Cyril Ramaphosa honoured Buthelezi by declaring his funeral a Special Official Funeral Category 1. The State, Official and Provincial Official Funeral Policy of government accords Special Official Funerals, Category 1, to persons of extraordinary credentials specifically designated by the President of the Republic of South Africa.
