Former National Assembly speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula is appearing at thein Pretoria in a bail hearing, amid allegations of corruption and money laundering.
The 67-year-old former MP is facing 12 counts of corruption and one count of money laundering, the former under the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act 12 of 2004 and the latter under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act 121 of 1998 . This was revealed by Independent Directorate deputy director Bheki Manyathi before proceedings started in court 8.in Centurion, Tshwane, where she was processed while accompanied by former deputy president Baleka Mbete.the former speaker’s integrity was intact, highlighting that she is speaking as a long-time friend and comrade of Mapisa-Nqakula., occupying the position twice, between 2004 and 2008 and then later in between 2014 and 2019.
