Finance minister Enoch Godongwana is presenting the medium-term budget policy statement on Wednesday afternoon. Among other issues, the minister is expected to make announcements on Eskom’s R400bn debt pile, and possibly other bailouts. The MTBPS comes at a time when the government is expected to record a revenue overrun owing to the commodities boom. At the same time, National Treasury is expected to lower its forecast for economic growth.
