Our Lady of Lourdes Hiking Club enjoyed a packed six days of climbs in the Austrian ski resort of Mayerhofen

Tyrolean delights were on the hiking menu for a Lanarkshire walking group as they swapped the Trossachs for Tyrol.

Based in Strass Spa hotel in the pretty Austrian ski resort town of Mayerhofen in the Zillertall region, 34 hikers enjoyed a packed six days of climbs at altitudes close to 2976m , with other climbs above 2000m.Get all the news from your area – as well as features, entertainment, sport and the latest on Lanarkshire’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic – straight to your fingertips, 24/7.

Although used to climbing, the group were more than happy to have 1000m or so taken off their total ascents using various cable cars, a labour-saving convenience considered worth every euro cent.
