Karabo Thosago, 23, has gained instant fame after jumping into a pool at a Planet Fitness gym to save a member who was submerged in the water.
CCTV footage of the rescue has gone viral on social media as Thosago, who is a cleaner at the gym in Craighall Park, didn't hesitate when he noticed someone was in trouble. "I was so scared, very scared. I've never seen something like that. I just thought if I don't jump in, then this person can die in a matter of seconds," Thosago told
The footage shows a swimmer nearing the end of the lane when he suddenly slips under water. Thosago, fully clothed, jumps in and lifts the person's head so he can get air.
