It wasn’t only Formula 1 racing drivers who were crashing at the Monaco Grand Prix yesterday – a powerboat smashed into two other boats and came to a halt on the pontoon.Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but a video of the incident has since gone viral across social media platforms.
According to the National Sea Rescue Institute , which issued a sea safety warning in light of the incident, after the boat came to a halt on the pontoon, a bystander climbed aboard the vessel and pulled the kill switch to cut the engines, which were still at full power ahead. “According to reports, the accident happened when the skipper of a water ferry may have fallen overboard while the motors were at full throttle ahead,” says Andrew Ingram, NSRI communications manager.“Wearing a well-maintained kill switch, which is regularly tested, is crucial in preventing incidents like this,” he says.
