Adetshina’s win comes after a whirlwind of controversy around her citizenship.
Miss Universe Nigeria 2024found prima facie evidence that her parents may have allegedly committed identity fraud when she was born, raising question marks around her citizenship in South Africa.
“It all started because of my name. People where not happy that my name is Chidimma and I am representing South Africa, so that is where it actually really started. She spoke about things that happened behind the scenes that made her withdraw from the Miss SA pageant. “There were some statements that came out from Home Affairs regarding my mom’s ID as well, and that is still a legal matter ... What I do know is that I was born in South Africa and I am South African and I’m still proudly Nigerian as well.”“To see that they saw that potential and the love that I received, it has been exceptional, not only from the organisation and the girls, but from Nigeria and all over the world, and that is my whole journey.
