Forty arrested as the death toll from the string of suicide attacks in Sri Lanka rises to 310.

23 April 2019 - 09:03Tensions remained high in Sri Lanka after a bomb discovered on Monday near one of the targeted churches blew up before police could defuse it.

The silence began at 8.30am , the time that the first of six bombs detonated on Sunday morning, unleashing carnage at high-end hotels and churches packed with Easter worshippers. The attacks were also the worst ever against the country's small Christian minority, who make up just seven percent of its population of 21 million.
