The UK Government is being urged to 'do the right thing'
The UK Government is being challenged to "do the right thing" by setting money aside in the billions as compensation for women who were not informed early enough about the increase in the state pension age This follows the news that millions of so-called Waspi women could be receiving compensation and an apology over changes in the state pension.
They further noted in their report that the affected women should have received letters with the amendments up to four years earlier than they actually did. Now, if you're a woman born between April 1950 and April 1960, there's an available online tool to check when exactly the ombudsman says you should have received notification about your pension's changes, reports Wales Online.
Speaking to the PA news agency, she said: "They've ruined our lives. It's worth a heck of a lot more than one or two grand." The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman used a scale to decide on a fair financial payment. The scale has six levels, and the PHSO recommended a level four payout of between £1,000 and £2,950.
