While the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has rocked people across the globe, it has shaken people right here in the Seattle area.
While Seattle has one of the highest populations of Japanese-Americans in the nation, Japanese culture and influence is rooted in the city’s own story.
“He was very committed to seeing Japanese-American as connectors between the U.S. and Japan, and really elevated the roles of Japanese-Americans through his engagement,” Basalla told KIRO 7.“He saw the power of bringing women into the relationship and gave us many opportunities to work with him to explore leadership of women in the economy,” Basalla said.
