“I never felt like I needed a chance to go somewhere else,” said Love, who stressed he was appreciative of the opportunity to interview and has gobs of respect for Huska, general manager Craig Conroy and others in the organization. “I was open to really all avenues of where the next steps were for me.
“And then I had a couple loose conversations with the Flames on the position there. I had interest in it. It just never quite materialized that way.”He’ll now be working alongside Spencer Carbery, just graduated from the list of next-in-line to be an NHL boss. Carbery was the AHL’s coach of the year in 2021 before a two-season stint on the Toronto Maple Leafs’ staff.

That will be a proud moment for me, watching it as a coach from afar.”
