Golden State Warriors’ Gary Payton II to sit out against Los Angeles Lakers after starting last five games
LOS ANGELES — Gary Payton II will sit out for the Warriors’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers with left knee soreness.
Payton “took a shot” to his knee during the Warriors’ game against the Dallas Mavericks, head coach Steve Kerr said. An MRI came back clear and Payton is day-to-day. Forward Otto Porter Jr. will start in Payton’s place on Saturday at Crypto.com Arena along with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney. Kerr opted to start Porter Jr. for his rebounding ability and physicality against LeBron James’ Lakers.
