Since these products are not registered there is no promise that they won’t be dangerous or even work at all.Fake versions of weight-loss and diabetes-treating medications such as Ozempic and Mounjaro are being sold online in South Africa in order to capitalise on their popularity, but South Africans are being warned to avoid these fraudulent drugs.
Meanwhile, Mounjaro, which is also for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and helps with weight loss, is not even officially being imported into South Africa yet. SAHPRA says that purchasing either of these medications from unofficial channels online or otherwise could expose people to risks.
