The 22 South Africans who fled Sudan by boat for Egypt are expected back in South Africa on Thursday.
They were stranded in Egypt's Port Safaga for three days after being refused permission to disembark.Government and the Gift of the Givers have successfully intervened on their behalf.
The Egyptian authorities have granted permission for them to get off the boat to fly to South Africa.Sudan battles rage as UN agencies warn of 'catastrophe' "We are happy now that all the South African nationals that we know of that we are aware of have been successfully evacuated out of Sudan," said DIRCO spokesperson Clayson Monyela.
"An operation that was not easy, risky. But with the support of countries like Egypt, Sudan itself South Arabia, Gift of the Givers and everyone who has been able to bring our people home.
