The bakery is seeking $45,000 in damages.
. In the lawsuit, Athens Baking Company claims that Pacific Coast Baking has been intentionally taking their trays to cut costs and give them a competitive advantage.
In the suit, Athens included photos allegedly showing their trays sitting in Pacific Coast's loading dock. They are seeking $45,000 in damages and a court order barring Pacific Coast from “trafficking in the bread trays that have been stolen," reported the Mercury News. Pacific Coast Baking, which is based in South San Francisco, is denying the allegations. Owner Bill Esposto referred to Athens as a"'gorilla' pounding its chest that 'wants to crush us,'" reported the Mercury News. Athens is a wholesale and retail supplier delivering baked goods in California and across the country; Pacific Coast is a smaller wholesale company delivering to a few hundred customers in the Bay Area.
