A wanted Cleveland man rammed his vehicle into a police cruiser, then led police on a pursuit, at about 1:45 a.m. Sept. 3.
The incident started outside Shell, 13030 Brookpark Road, where the man had parked his Kia Sportage sport-utility vehicle. Police checked the license-plate number and determined that the man was wanted for robbery and domestic violence.
The man almost crashed his SUV into another vehicle as he left the Shell parking lot. He drove over a curb and sped northbound on West 130th Street. The man turned east onto Chatfield Avenue, north onto Rocky River Drive and west onto Lorain Avenue. He took Groveland Avenue to Old Lorain Road, then turned eastbound onto Valley Parkway. He turned abruptly into the parking lot of Lakewood Dog Park.
The man sprinted into the Rocky River, swam midway across and tried to hide in the water. When police shined their flashlight on the man, he continued swimming, crawled up the opposite embankment and fled into woods.
