After more than 50 people tested positive for COVID-19, the Walmart in Lakewood temporarily closed to sanitize the store, according to a release from the big-box retailer.
The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department confirmed there were 52 cases in the outbreak at the store.A Walmart representative said a third-party entity will sanitize the store, and the closure will allow its workers to restock shelves in preparation for them to reopen their doors.
In addition to the Lakewood store COVID cases, the Walmart on 31st Avenue in Puyallup reportedly had 37 active cases and the store on Union Avenue in Tacoma had 11 active cases.
