Australian international Jordan Petaia said Tuesday he has quit rugby to chase his NFL dream, joining a growing list of players setting their sights on the lucrative American sport.

"The decision to step away from rugby hasn't been easy and one that took a great deal of consideration," the 24-year-old said in a statement on social media.Les Kiss, Petaia's club coach at the Queensland Reds, said he was"one of the most dynamic players in Australia, if not the world." Starting in January, he will spend 10 weeks learning the game in Florida before he gets the chance to impress scouts at a"pro day" in March.
Mailata, who has impressed during his six years with the Eagles, signed a $66 million contract extension earlier this year.
