Games to look out for before Elden Ring DLC.
While fans of Elden Ring await the release of the game's DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, there are several promising Soulslikes and similarly Dark Souls-inspired games set to release in the near future.
5 Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn Developed by A44 Games, the creators of the Soulslike Ashen, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn's first trailer seems to indicate that the game will break away from the slower pace and more restrained movesets that are characteristic of the genre. The game's combat shows off plenty of mobility and dynamic action, with multiple jumps and an offhand gun that seems to be mixed seamlessly into melee combat.
3 Lords of the Fallen Set to release on October 13, Lords of the Fallen is being developed by HexWorks as a reboot/spiritual successor to the 2014 game of the same name. Originally developed by Deck13, who would later go on to create The Surge series, 2014's Lords of the Fallen was one of the first games outside FromSoftware's creations to emulate the mechanics of the Souls games - before "Soulslike" had solidified as a genre of its own.
Unlike many other Soulslikes, including later entries of the Souls series itself, Lies of P's gameplay seems to place less importance on dodging and more of an emphasis on blocking and parrying enemy attacks, with a powerful perfect block mechanic that rewards good timing and potentially even weakens an enemy by breaking their weapon.
