JUST IN: Western Australia has broken its daily Covid-19 case record with more than 1100 infections reported over the past 24 hours.

With these new infections, the number of active cases across the state has reached 5994.

It was only on Saturday that the previous record of new daily cases was broken when 1105 new infections were reported. Western Australia recorded 1179 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, breaking its record for the most amount of cases in one day. There are now 16 hospitalisations, up from 11 on Monday, but none of them require a ventilator or are in the intensive care unit.
