The zoo says the names are connected to the Eastern black rhino’s native African regions. Whichever name receives the highest donation total wins. Voting deadline is midnight Friday, Aug. 5., which protects rhinos by recruiting, training and equipping wildlife scouts and anti-poaching patrols and supporting training for law-enforcement officers to stop wildlife crime. This is Kibibbi’s third calf, second with dad Forrest.
Rhinos can grow to about 5 feet tall and about 12 feet long, and weigh between 1,750 and 3,000 pounds. Newborns weigh about 75 pounds.
