Vote and vaccinate at the same spot on election day LGE2021 SAVaccineRollout
In the vaccination roll-out briefing on Friday, Health Minister Joe Phaahla announced that 1 000 vaccination pop-up sites will be set up at various voting stations across the country on voting day.“Once a person has voted they can then proceed to the pop-up site to be registered and vaccinated. To make it even more convenient to have one trip, priority will be given to the use of the J&J vaccine, which is a one dose [vaccine],” said Phaahla.
Phaahla said adults over the age of 60, who get the vaccine in November, will be rewarded with a R100 grocery voucher after taking their jab. Josias Naidoo, health activist and vice chairperson of the National Health Care Professionals Association , said vaccine hesitancy remains a massive challenge among South Africans.
Globally, research has however suggested that incentives do not always increase willingness to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
