‘La fête en Acadie: Havre au tchai’ at Dennis Point Wharf will mark National Acadian Day
Some filming took place in Lower West Pubnico earlier this summer of skits that Robert d’Entremont, host of the upcoming Aug. 15 National Acadian Day concert being here, wrote to highlight different aspects of the Acadian culture. When he wasn’t in the boat, he was trying his hand – or make that his feet – at crate running across the water in the harbour.
Work continued on Aug. 10 on construction of the massive stage at Dennis Point Wharf that will host ‘La fête en Acadie: Havre au tchai’ on National Acadian Day on Aug. 15. TINA COMEAU PHOTO - Tina Comeau There was both excitement and surprise when it was announced publically that Pubnico was the chosen site for this major concert.
Actor Robert d’Entremont, who grew up in Pubnico, and who most recently has been part of the cast of the Quebec comedy La Maison-Bleue, will be hosting the Aug. 15 event. He was also hired as a writer for five TV bits that will appear after each commercial break. “They are humoristic skits that highlight the different aspects of our culture in Pubnico,” he says.
“We recruited tons of extras to be in these videos. We had no problem finding extras to play roles, or even speaking roles, for some of the video segments. Everyone was so patient and very supportive. The Radio-Canada film crew was so impressed,” she says.
