Throughout history, in times of recession, market turmoil and with a few oil embargoes thrown into the mix, we take stock of how vulnerable we are to these major disruptors and their impact on our quality of life. So, is a carbon tax the perceived ogre in the castle, or will it give us the push we need to intensify the development of greener sources of energy?
Premier Tim Houston: are you on the right track with your “made in Nova Scotia” plan to implement a “carbon tax” on only large emitters and not on the population at large? If this is truly going to encourage Nova Scotians to be cognizant of their energy-consuming habits and contribute to your goal of reducing provincial carbon emissions by 53 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030, then please go ahead.
