Virtual Racing Is Keeping This Runner on Track to Achieve a Year-Long Goal

So long as outdoor running is safe (alone, away from other people!), Micah Ling will be racing.

The amount of news came so quickly that I thought I would have to abandon my quest, but I didn’t want to. I’m the kind of person who sets a goal and then goes to extreme measures to achieve it. For now,Then the running community stepped up. Enter: virtual racing.

The Horsetooth Half Marathon—a staple of the northern Colorado spring running calendar —also announced a virtual option. The race course is unique and iconic, climbing steep roads around the Horsetooth Reservoir, with views of the Rocky Mountains. Race director Nick Clark knew runners would likely want to run the course on their own time, instead of just running any 13.1 mile route, so they’re allowing athletes a three-week window to complete their race, and have encouraged people to run alone.
