The man at the center of it all was arrested in 2021 for what authorities said was a pattern of harassment.
The man who sparked protests and backlash after video of his racist rant against his Mt. Laurel neighbors went viral, has pleaded guilty to fourth degree bias intimidation and second degree counts of possession with intent distribute controlled substances, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s office announced Wednesday.
Authorities began investigating Mathews on July 2, 2021 after a resident of the community reported a harassment complaint against him. Shortly after the initial report, police were called to remove someone from the area on Coventry Way where officers witnessed Mathews hurling racial slurs at four other residents.
