The Phambili Secondary School teacher was apparently using the weapon to intimidate the children.
The KZN Education Department received numerous complaints from outraged parents."Investigation is still ongoing, we are waiting for a preliminary report that will come out early next week," said Nkosinathi Ngcobo, Department of Education Head in KZN.
"We don't have an issue whether its a toy gun or real gun, the fact that she's wielding a weapon on our learners is unacceptable, that's why we've put her on suspension.Source
