"Schools are soft targets and that's why you referred to it earlier, almost 2,000 schools have been vandalised in some shape or form over the past year during Covid-19," he said. "What we are seeing right now, we are still gathering information. The Department of Basic Education is in the field and they are going to make a proper determination but what we do know from Naptosa is up to 35 schools within two districts in KZN have been damaged and nine of those schools have been supported by Save the Children."
This spike in violence comes just days after the Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga announced that almost 2,000 schools were undergoing major repairs due to burglaries.
