Before the weather gets truly terrible, it's the perfect time to get out and about - as long as you finish with a nice pub

LancsLive has previously espoused the virtues of Garstang - the ancient and well-kept market town - so it's always a treat to head back there.

This week's suggested walk does exactly that, taking a circular route from the village centre and ending at a choice of pubs which surround the start and finish point. Along the way, the route follow roads, farm tracks, fields, footpaths and a canal towpath which offers a serene waterside stretch. It also passes by the the site of Greenhalgh Castle but remember to keep your distance as the ruins are both unsafe and on private land. The route can be very muddy after run so ensure you have suitable footwear. It covers a distance of three miles and will take most people between 90 minutes and two hours to complete.
