Vietnam is the latest country to turn away cruise ships not long after the MS Westerdam, which was rejected by ports across Asia, was finally allowed to dock in Cambodia.

The AIDAvita, part of the German AIDA cruise line, can no longer dock in Vietnam as was originally: Vietnam has barred two cruises from docking in its ports as a “temporary” measure to prevent the Covid-19 spread despite no cases being reported onboard the vessels, in the latest sign that the $45 billion cruise industry is reeling from fears about the pneumonia-like illness.

A spokesman for AIDA said in an email: “There are no suspected cases or confirmed corona viral diseases on board AIDAvita. No guest or crew on board has been in China in the last 14 days.” Holland American Line said it would expense all passengers’ flights home and refund the cost of the cruise aboard the Westerdam, which was finally allowed to dock in Cambodia Thursday; the expense is expected to cost Holland America Line around $4 million, according to theThe Norwegian Jade cruise ship has also been blocked from docking in Vietnam over growing concerns about the coronavirus.
