Sweezey, 37, has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter in connection with the Oct. 22, 2020, death of Yang, two months after their altercation at the Sunnyside LRT station around 9 a.m. on Aug. 15, 2020. Buziak told Justice Glenda Campbell that the issue to be decided is whether the assault on the station platform, which caused a severe head injury to Yang, led to his death.Article content

Defence lawyer Telmo Dos Santos told court Monday the only witness he will require the Crown to call is pathologist Dr. Eric Bol, who conducted Yang’s autopsy. Buziak took Campbell through CTrain station surveillance video admitted by the defence as part of a statement of agreed facts.
