The Electronic Entertainment Expo, the signature video game industry event held annually in June, has been cancelled because of fears of the spreading coronavirus outbreak.

The ESA says they're exploring online options to deliver announcements related to the video game industry in June.

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox at Microsoft, shared on Twitter the company will stream an Xbox digital event, with details on timing coming soon. Similarly, Ubisoft, publisher of games such as"The Division 2" and"Just Dance 2019," said in a statement it is"exploring other options for a digital experience that will allow us to share all the exciting news we have planned.”

"The health and well-being of our teams, players and partners is our top priority, so while we’re disappointed, we fully support the ESA’s decision to cancel E3 2020," the company said."E3 is and will continue to be a moment where we come together as a community and share our love of games."
