Leaked footage shows two female officers brutally assaulting a woman at the Heidedal Police Station in South Africa. The victim, Steffnie Booysen, had gone to the station to report verbal abuse by her live-in boyfriend, despite a court order against him. She alleges being slapped, kicked, and stepped on while handcuffed.

A video footage that was leaked to SABC, shows two female officers beating the complainant repeatedly all over her body.

Steffnie Booysen says she had been to the police station to report her live-in boyfriend’s verbal abuse despite a court order instructing him not to do so. Booysen says she still finds it unbearable after she was slapped on the face, her body kicked around and stepped on while hand cuffed by the police at the station.

“I am still going to lay a complaint because they were supposed to assist me. She slapped me, the white one and the black one also slapped me this side. She slapped again and I was grabbing this one because I was asking multiple times, ‘why are you guys fighting me.’ We were fighting and they pushed me out of the station, they actually fought me out of the station,” says Booysen.

“IPID confirms that there is a case of assault that was opened against two female police officers from Heidedal Police Station by a civilian. It is alleged that a woman went to the police station on 19 January 2025 requesting the police to assist her but there was an argument between the police officers and the civilian which resulted in the alleged assault. The incident was reported to IPID and an investigation is underway, “says IPID spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping.
