The gender-based violence and femicide case from Vosman, Emalahleni, involving Abongile Allessing has been reinstated on the court roll.
The case concerns an assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, as reported by 38-year-old Allessing on August 4. However, the investigation team, in collaboration with prosecutors, has worked to have the case reinstated.In addition, allegations of a delayed police response to the incident are being investigated internally. The SAPS emphasised its commitment to prompt responses to GBVF cases, ensuring the safety and well-being of victims.
'We plead with members of society to allow the team space to conduct due diligence on this case without distraction. We understand that this is a sensitive issue, which is being attended to by the relevant stakeholders. The team is working together professionally to ensure justice is served. We do not want a situation where we lose focus and unnecessarily create loopholes for the suspect to walk free.
