The victory keeps Watford Women six points off top spot with two games in hand WatfordFC

The Golden Girls were beaten by Ipswich Town in their last game in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division, but second-half goals from Bianca Baptiste and Poppy Wilson ensured the Hornets didn’t suffer another setback in their promotion quest.

First Ellie Head rattled the crossbar with a volley in the opening stages, before Megan Chandler saw another attempt hit the frame of the goal from an Alli Palisch corner. The substitute’s driven spot-kick was saved by Cara Davies, but Baptiste followed in to make no mistake from the rebound to make the breakthrough with 20 minutes remaining.
