Thanh’s survival is a story of sheer will and one that will keep you riveted tot he page.
She grew up poor in an evangelical environment and she rebelled in the biggest possible ways. Drugs, sex, abuse, crime and jail are all parts of Thanh’s younger life.After years of putting her thoughts down, she is finally published and celebrated.
My oldest was in Grade 9 when a group of friends were talking about inherited traits. “I love equestrian sports,” one said, “because my mother used to play on the polo team.” “Well, I model, because my mom used to be a model,” said another. My oldest looked at them and said, deadpan, “My mom used to be a crack addict.” That’s the kind of cool they are. We’ve always been open with each other.
