A prosecutor has indicated the evidence will paint a grisly picture of Andrew Berry stabbing his daughters multiple times, then trying to kill himself in his Victoria area apartment

A Victoria area man stabbed his two young daughters multiple times — six-year-old Chloe 26 times and four-year-old Aubrey 32 times — and then tried to kill himself in his apartment on Christmas Day 2017, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

“He’d been warned that without hydro and possibly without an apartment, he was likely to lose access to Chloe and Aubrey and he had had thoughts of suicide,” she said. The evidence will show that in fact Berry did kill Chloe and Aubrey and then injured himself in an attempt to commit suicide, Jennings told the jury.

Two officers later entered, both with flashlights, and found a naked man in the bathtub who later turned out to be Berry, said the Crown. Autopsies found that Chloe had been struck at least once on the head, hard enough to fracture her skull, and had been stabbed a total of 26 times, in her chest, back, arms and wrists.Aubrey had been stabbed 32 times, including wounds to the chest, back and arms.
