The shooting resulted in four people being killed with one person remaining in hospital in a critical condition.

Speaking to KABC-TV, family members said the birthday party was held for Breahna Stines. They added that her sister, the other female victim, Marney Hamilton was also shot and killed. Stines had turned 20 the day of the shooting and was celebrating with her older sister, 25-year old Hamilton. Both were studying to become nurses.
Neither woman lived at the home where the shooting happened, as the residence was used as an unregulated short-term rental for parties and gatherings. The shooting was also called an"ambush" by Inglewood Mayor James T.Butts. "This was a targeted ambush, gang-related, it was not random and it was related to the people that were expected to be at that party," the mayor said at a news conference. He also issued a press release about the shooting.Department tweeted the mayor's press release and asked for anyone with information to submit a tip to the Los Angeles Crime Stoppers.
