Bunny Julius, the owner of Melissa’s Missteak, where Enns-Goneau worked as a bartender, said his daughter’s boyfriend was with Enns-Goneau when he was killed early Friday.
Enns-Goneau, 26, was born and raised in the Alberta resort town. Julius said he’s never known his employee to have been in a fight, and remains shocked by what happened.Article content On Saturday, RCMP said John-Christopher Arrizza, 22, of Banff, has been charged with second-degree murder in Enns-Goneau’s death. He has been remanded into custody and is to appear in Canmore court next Wednesday.Julius does not know Arrizza, or how long he has been in town.He was well-known around town, played rugby and soccer while in high school and was a goaltender in minor hockey. He was into experiencing all the outdoors had to offer, like many who live there.
James Fraser, the director of media and marketing for the Banff Hospitality Collective which runs the Dancing Sasquatch, said the business is co-operating with the RCMP investigation and working with Bow Valley Victim Services to offer assistance and counselling to those affected by the tragedy.Melissa’s Missteak was closed Friday but partially reopened Saturday for service as staff tried to work through the loss of their friend.
Friday’s homicide has rocked the small tourism-centric town of about 8,900, known more for being one of the most sought-after destinations in the world.“We are shocked, angry and heartbroken that a senseless act has robbed us of a cherished local of the prime of his life,” she said.
