Drew Pomeranz, who hasn't pitched in an MLB game since he was with the San Diego Padres in 2021, is on the open market again after his minor league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers was cut short.

Two months later, Pomeranz has opted out of that contract as well, electing to re-enter free agency. He was 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA, 1.111 WHIP and 14.0 strikeouts per nine innings across eight appearances with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Baseball Club.In August 2021, Pomeranz suffered a torn flexor tendon. He opened 2022 on the 60-day injured list, then suffered a setback during his rehab assignment and missed the entire season.

Soon after starting his rehab assignment, Pomeranz suffered a neck strain. The Red Sox got 32 efficient starts out of Pomeranz in 2017 – he went 17-6 with a 3.32 ERA – but his production dropped off a cliff in 2018. Pomeranz is 48-58 with a 3.91 ERA, 1.346 WHIP, 9.3 strikeouts per nine innings and a 12.4 WAR in 289 career MLB appearances.
