.POTUS almost certainly won't sign a version of the NDAA that mirrors the one the Republican-led House passed on Friday morning. The House's bill included a number of partisan provisions, supported by Republicans and opposed by Democrats.

Some of the controversial amendments include ending the department's policies regarding abortion, the same with regard to providing transgender members of the military healthcare, as well as their diversity and inclusion programs.
"It's very difficult to see the president supporting legislation that would make it harder for Americans to serve in uniform, and to not be able to do so with dignity, would not be able to do so with the proper care that they need both medical and mental care. It's very difficult to see that the President would ever, ever sign legislation that would put our troops at greater risk or put our readiness at risk," he said on CNN Friday morning ahead of the vote.
"The president is comfortable and confident that he's not going to sign legislation that's not going to affect our military readiness in a negative way or affect our people," he added."He'll leave it to members of Congress to decide how they're going to vote on this for themselves. But obviously, he's not going to support amendments, he's not going to support legislation that's going to put our readiness or our troops at any greater risk.
The House Armed Services Committee overwhelmingly and in a bipartisan manner voted in favor of bringing the NDAA out of committee to the full House, but the hundreds of amendments that were debated and voted on affirmatively effectively changed the construction of the bill, which is why only most of the Democrats on the committee voted against the bill's passing on Friday.
