Western Alaska and the North Slope continue to see dangerous wind chill readings, with areas through the Central Brooks Range seeing readings as low as -65 below.
While much of Mainland Alaska is still in the deep freeze, Southcentral and Southeast Alaska continue to see rain and snow in the forecast. A winter weather advisory is in effect for the Kenai Peninsula and Western Prince William Sound through Tuesday evening. A sliver of Turnagain Arm near Girdwood is also under the advisory, as up to six inches of accumulation looks possible into the evening.
We’ll see the activity die down into the evening hours, with only scattered to periodic snow showers expected for coastal regions into Wednesday. Highs the rest of the week will sit near or above freezing, leading to a resurgence in the freeze-thaw pattern across Southcentral.
