Verizon is adding more big market cities to its list of places where users can find its mmWave and Mid-band 5G signals.
subscriber saw the 5G UW icon on his phone's status bar, it meant one thing. That phone had somehow found the carrier's 5G mmWave band coverage delivering 5G download data speeds as fast as 1Gbps. Seeing that icon on a 5G compatible phone was the Holy Grail for Verizon subscribers because it meant that they were getting 5G service at the fastest download data speed.But mmWave signals have a problem. Sure they're fast.
Verizon changed Ultra Wideband to include 5G download data speed that was about half as fast as mmWaveAnd because the mid-band signals travel greater distances than mmWave, they are easier to find. This allows Verizon to say that more subscribers are now receiving its Ultra Wideband 5G service even though in reality, nothing has changed.
