The company entered administration on 31 May 2023, with James Clark and Howard Smith from Interpath Advisory appointed as joint administrators.
Vegan Solo, led by entrepreneur Heather Mills, specialises in the production of meat-free products. Mills, a leading advocate for the vegan movement and former partner of Paul McCartney, will add the P&B site to her existing portfolio, which includes Vbites, a pioneer of meat-free substitutes. In 1993, Heather Mills, a model at the time, was involved in a severe accident when she was hit by a police motorcycle in London.
Following the accident, Mills suffered from a persistent infection in her residual limb that did not respond to antibiotics or medication. It was only after a friend recommended the Hippocrates Institute in Florida that she found a solution. The institute required her to adopt a wholefood vegan diet and use natural remedies like wheatgrass and garlic poultices on her wound. Within a week, the infection had cleared, and the healing process had begun, allowing her to have a prosthetic leg fitted.
Mills married Beatles' Paul McCartney in 2002, they had a child together, Beatrice, in 2003, and divorced in 2009. Mills, now a successful entrepreneur, bought the Redwood Wholefood Company in 2007, leading to the birth of VBites, a vegan food company. She continues to be a leading figure in the vegan community, advocating for a plant-based diet and lifestyle.
