About seven in every 1,000 students in primary schools, secondary schools and institutions of higher learning have been caught for smoking and vaping offences.
He was responding to a question by Ms Joan Pereira in Parliament on Tuesday about how many students have been referred to HSA for vaping in the last five years. Since 2018, the purchase, possession and use of vaporisers have been outlawed in Singapore. This includes purchases made through the Internet and from overseas.
HSA said it monitors local online retail sites, social media platforms and messaging apps for suspected peddling of e-vaporisers and their refill cartridges. In 2022, more than 2,600 such postings were removed.
